SSC photo resizer (3.5 × 4.5 cm, 20–50 KB)

When an SSC form asks you to upload a photograph, the rule is a recent colour photo of about 3.5 × 4.5 cm, JPG, 20 to 50 KB. This page makes it 276 × 354 pixels with 200 DPI saved in the file, so it measures exactly 3.5 × 4.5 cm.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Filled in: 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI, 20–50 KB JPG · check your notice and edit if it differs

How to use: SSC photo size (3.5 × 4.5 cm, 20–50 KB)

  1. 1Check whether your SSC exam captures the photo live; if it does, you do not need this file.
  2. 2Use a recent colour photo, facing the camera, on a plain white or light background.
  3. 3Add it here. 3.5 × 4.5 cm, 200 DPI and 20–50 KB are filled in.
  4. 4Press "Make it fit"; the photo is cropped evenly from the centre.
  5. 5Download the JPG and upload it where the form asks for the photograph.

Resolution, not just KB

A photo can be 30 KB and still be wrong: a 1000 × 1300 pixel picture saved at 72 DPI claims to be about 35 × 46 cm. Notices that give centimetres expect the pixel size and the stored DPI to match. This page sets both, then compresses inside 20–50 KB, so all three checks pass together.

For the live photo instead

If the portal captures your face live, sit facing a window, use a plain light wall behind you, remove caps and reflective glasses, and hold the camera at eye level. Poor light is the most common reason a live capture is rejected. The SSC signature is uploaded as a file either way.

Frequently asked questions

Do SSC CGL and CHSL need a photo upload?

No. On the current SSC portal and the mySSC app, CGL, CHSL and most central SSC exams take your photograph live during the application. This page is for forms that still ask for a photo file, such as some SSC posts, regional notices and state staff selection boards.

Why 200 DPI?

The cm size only fixes the pixels once a resolution is chosen. SSC notices use 200 DPI, which gives 276 × 354 pixels for 3.5 × 4.5 cm. The DPI is written into the JPG, so image viewers and checks report the right physical size.

Should the photo show the date?

Some SSC notices have asked for a photo not older than three months with the date it was taken printed on it. If yours does, add the date before resizing.
