How to use: HEIC to JPG
- 1Choose your HEIC or HEIF photos. You can select many at once.
- 2Keep JPG as the format, or pick PNG or WebP.
- 3Press "Convert" and wait a moment while each photo is decoded.
- 4Download the photos one by one, or all together as a ZIP.
Where HEIC causes problems
- Government and exam portals usually accept only JPG or PNG.
- Windows needs an extra codec to open HEIC files.
- Android phones and WhatsApp Web may show HEIC files as attachments instead of photos.
- Photo printing shops and many websites reject HEIC uploads.
How the conversion works
NapTools uses libheif, the open-source HEIC decoder, compiled to run in the browser. The decoder is only downloaded the first time you convert a HEIC photo, so the rest of the site stays fast.
Need a smaller file too?
After converting, use the Compress image to KB tool to get a photo under a specific limit such as 50 KB or 100 KB.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my iPhone use HEIC?
HEIC stores photos at about half the size of JPG with the same quality, which saves space on your phone. The downside is that many apps and websites still don't support it.
Will the quality drop?
JPG output is saved at high quality (90%), so the difference is not visible. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser, so your personal photos never leave your device.
Can I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Yes. On the iPhone go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will then be saved as JPG.
