Make a passport photo print sheet

Add one photo and get a full sheet of copies, each exactly 35 × 45 mm (or 2 × 2 in, stamp size or your own size), laid out at 300 DPI with thin cut lines. Print it at a photo shop or at home and cut the photos out.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use: Passport photo print sheet

  1. 1Use a recent front-facing photo on a plain light background. Crop it loosely around your head and shoulders first if there is a lot of room behind you.
  2. 2Add it here and pick the photo size and paper. 4 × 6 in suits a photo shop, A4 suits a home printer.
  3. 3Leave "Number of photos" empty to fill the sheet, or type how many you need.
  4. 4Press "Make print sheet" and download the JPG or PDF.
  5. 5Print at 100% (actual size), then cut along the grey lines.

Cheaper than studio copies

A studio usually charges for each small set of passport photos. If you already have a good photo, one 4 × 6 in print of this sheet gives you eight copies for the price of a single photo print, and you can print it again whenever a form asks for more.

What the sheet looks like

Each copy is cropped from the centre of your photo to the exact shape of the size you chose, so nothing is stretched. The copies sit in a centred grid, 2 mm apart, with a 3 mm clear edge on photo paper and 6 mm on A4 so printers do not cut them off. The thin grey lines sit just outside each photo: cut on them and no grey is left on the print.

Which file to choose

Choose JPG when you send the sheet to a photo shop, a kiosk or a phone printing app. Choose PDF when you print from a computer, because PDF viewers keep the page at its real size more reliably. Both are 300 DPI, which is print quality.

Getting the photo right first

The sheet copies whatever photo you give it, so start with a good one: even light on your face, a plain white or off-white wall behind you, eyes open and looking at the camera. If a form also needs the same photo as a file upload, make it with the exam photo resizer at the pixel and KB size the form asks for.

Frequently asked questions

How many passport photos fit on a 4 × 6 print?

Eight photos of 35 × 45 mm, in two rows of four on a landscape 4 × 6 in sheet, with a small gap between them for cutting. A 5 × 7 in print holds nine, and an A4 page holds thirty.

Why do my printed photos come out the wrong size?

The printer scaled the page. In the print dialog choose "Actual size" or 100%, and turn off "Fit to page" or "Borderless". At a photo shop, ask them to print the 4 × 6 file without cropping. The file is saved at 300 DPI, so at true size every photo measures exactly what you chose.

Is a 4 × 6 print the same as 4R or 10 × 15 cm?

Yes. Photo shops in India often call it 4R, and some list it as 10 × 15 cm. It is the most common and cheapest photo print size, which is why the sheet starts on it.

Is my photo uploaded to make the sheet?

No. The cropping and layout happen in your browser. The photo never leaves your phone or computer.
