How to use: Age calculator

  1. 1Enter the date of birth.
  2. 2Leave "Age as on" as today, or set it to the cut-off date from an exam or job notification.
  3. 3Read the age in years, months and days, plus totals in months, weeks and days.
  4. 4See when the next birthday is and how many days are left.

How the calculation works

NapTools counts the number of complete months from your date of birth to the “as on” date, then the leftover days. Months are never assumed to be 30 days, so the answer matches what you’d count on a calendar. For example, from 15 August 1995 to 4 October 2026 is 31 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Age limits for exams and jobs

Recruitment notifications state an age range and a cut-off date on which your age is measured, not the exam date or today. For example, “21 to 30 years as on 1 August 2026” means you must have turned 21 by that date and not yet turned 31.

Other uses

  • Age on a specific date for school admission (many boards require a minimum age as on 31 March)
  • Exact age for insurance, pension and retirement planning
  • Days until a birthday or anniversary

Frequently asked questions

How do I check age eligibility for an exam?

Set "Age as on" to the cut-off date given in the official notification (for example 1 August of the exam year) and compare the result with the minimum and maximum age limits. Remember that reserved categories often get relaxation.

How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?

Their birthday is counted on 28 February in non-leap years, the convention most systems use.

Why is the day count sometimes different from other calculators?

NapTools counts whole calendar months from the date of birth, then the remaining days, the same way you would on a calendar. Calculators that assume every month has 30 days can be off by a day or two.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
