Where 300 KB limits show up
Medical claim portals, scholarship document uploads, university re-evaluation applications and some bank KYC forms often set limits in the 250–500 KB range. Always check the exact number in the instructions.
How it decides what to compress
NapTools looks at each image in the PDF. Large photographic images (the usual reason a PDF is heavy) are resized and re-encoded with the efficient MozJPEG encoder. If a recompressed image isn’t meaningfully smaller, the original is kept. Text, fonts and vector graphics are never altered.
Multiple documents?
If you need to upload several documents under 300 KB each, keep them as separate PDFs and compress each one. That keeps every file well under the limit instead of squeezing a combined file too hard.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my PDF so big in the first place?
Scanned pages and phone photos are stored as images at high resolution. A few of them easily reach several megabytes even though the page only shows a document.
Will images become blurry?
At 300 KB most documents look the same as before at normal zoom. Photos inside brochures may get slightly softer if the PDF has many of them.
Is my document safe?
Yes. The PDF never leaves your device. Compression runs entirely inside your browser.
