What is WebP?
WebP is an image format created by Google. It makes files around 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality, so websites love it. Every modern browser supports it, but plenty of other software still doesn’t: older photo editors, some messaging apps, print shops and many government and job portals.
Convert many at once
Downloaded a set of product images or wallpapers that are all WebP? Add them all here and convert in one go. Each file keeps its name with a .jpg extension.
Quality setting
85% is visually indistinguishable from the original for most images. Go up to 95% if you plan to edit the photo further, or down to 75% for the smallest files.
Frequently asked questions
Why do websites give me WebP files?
Websites serve WebP because it is smaller than JPG and loads faster. When you right-click and save, you get the WebP version.
Why won't my WebP image upload?
Many forms, printing services and older apps only accept JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG fixes that.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become white. Choose WebP to PNG instead if you need to keep transparency.
