Convert JPG to PNG

Turn JPG photos into PNG files. PNG is lossless, so repeated editing and saving won't add new compression artefacts, and some apps and print workflows require it.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Preset: saves as PNG

How to use: JPG to PNG

  1. 1Choose your JPG images.
  2. 2The output is preset to PNG.
  3. 3Press "Convert".
  4. 4Download the PNG files or a ZIP of all of them.

Good reasons to convert JPG to PNG

  • Editing in several steps. Saving a JPG again and again adds blocky artefacts each time. Work in PNG and export a final JPG at the end.
  • Apps and templates that require PNG, such as some sticker makers, game engines and design tools.
  • Overlays and graphics where you’ll later add transparency in an editor.

Not a quality booster

If a JPG already looks blocky, PNG will preserve the blockiness exactly. For the best result, always start from the highest-quality original you have.

Prefer smaller files?

For sharing online, WebP gives lossless-looking quality at a fraction of PNG’s size. Use JPG to WebP instead.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting to PNG improve quality?

No. Converting can't recover detail that JPG compression already removed. It only prevents further loss when you edit and save again.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, so photos become several times larger. That's expected.

Can I make the background transparent?

Converting doesn't remove backgrounds. The PNG will have the same solid background as the JPG.
