Convert PNG to JPG

PNG files, especially screenshots and photos saved as PNG, can be several times bigger than they need to be. Convert them to JPG for smaller files that every form and app accepts.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Preset: saves as JPG

How to use: PNG to JPG

  1. 1Choose your PNG images.
  2. 2The output is preset to JPG with 85% quality.
  3. 3Press "Convert".
  4. 4Download the JPGs individually or as a ZIP.

When to convert PNG to JPG

  • Phone screenshots you need to upload or email.
  • Scanned documents saved as PNG by a scanning app.
  • Photos exported as PNG by an editor.
  • Forms that accept only JPG/JPEG.

When to keep PNG

Keep PNG for logos, icons, diagrams and anything with a transparent background or sharp-edged text. For those, PNG or WebP stay crisper than JPG.

Need an exact size too?

If a portal wants the image under a specific limit, convert here first and then use Compress image to KB, or go straight to Compress image to KB, which also outputs JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my PNG so large?

PNG is lossless. It stores every pixel exactly, which is great for logos and text but wasteful for photos. The same photo as JPG is often five to ten times smaller.

Will converting reduce quality?

JPG is slightly lossy, but at 85% the difference is very hard to see in photos. Screenshots with small text can show faint artefacts; raise the quality to 95% for those.

What happens to a transparent background?

It becomes white, because JPG has no transparency.
