Resize an image for an Instagram post

Make any photo a perfect 1080 × 1080 square for your Instagram feed. The photo is cropped evenly from the centre and resized sharply, so Instagram doesn't crop or blur it for you.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Consistent grids

Brands and creators often post in batches. Add all the photos for the week here and resize them in one go, so every post in your grid has the same square framing.

Keep your originals

Resizing creates new files and never changes your originals, so you can always come back and crop differently for a story or a portrait post.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Instagram post size?

1080 × 1080 pixels for square posts. Instagram also supports portrait posts at 1080 × 1350 (4:5), which take up more of the screen; use the Resize image tool with those numbers if you prefer portrait.

Why does Instagram blur my photos?

Instagram resizes anything wider than 1080 pixels and compresses it heavily. Uploading at exactly 1080 pixels wide avoids an extra resize step and usually looks sharper.

Will the edges of my photo be cut?

Yes, a little, because a rectangular photo has to become a square. The crop is taken evenly from the centre. Keep the subject in the middle when you shoot.
