Passport size photos on an A4 page

An A4 page holds 30 passport size photos of 35 × 45 mm, five across and six down. This page makes that layout as a PDF at the real size, so a normal home or office printer gives you a full set to cut out.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use: Passport photos on A4 (30 per page)

  1. 1Add a recent, front-facing photo with a light background.
  2. 2Check that the paper is A4 and the format is PDF. Type a number if you need fewer than 30.
  3. 3Press "Make print sheet" and download the PDF.
  4. 4Open it, choose "Actual size" in the print dialog, and print on glossy or matte photo paper.
  5. 5Let the ink dry for a few minutes, then cut along the grey lines.

Inkjet or laser

Inkjet printers with photo paper give the most natural skin tones and are what most homes have. Colour laser printers in offices are fine for forms, but photos look slightly flatter and glossy photo paper made for inkjets should not go through a laser printer, as the heat can damage it. Use laser-safe paper there.

Getting the size exactly right

Before cutting all 30, measure one photo with a ruler: it should be 35 mm wide and 45 mm tall. If it is off by a few millimetres, the printer scaled the page, not the file. Fix the print setting and print again. The PDF page is exactly 210 × 297 mm with the photo grid centred on it.

When a form wants different sizes

Some forms want stamp size or square photos. Change the photo size above, or use the stamp size sheet, and the page recalculates how many fit. For the file you upload online, use the passport size photo resizer instead.

Frequently asked questions

Which paper should I use in a home printer?

A4 glossy or matte photo paper of about 180 to 260 GSM gives the closest result to a studio print. Plain copier paper works for forms that only need a pasted copy, but colours look duller and the paper bends easily.

The photos printed a little smaller. Why?

The print dialog shrank the page to fit the printer margins. Choose "Actual size" or set scale to 100%. The layout already keeps a 6 mm border, which almost every printer can reach.

Can I print only six or eight photos on A4?

Yes. Type the number in "Number of photos". They fill the page from the top left, and the rest of the page stays blank. For six or eight copies, a 4 × 6 in sheet uses less photo paper.
