How to use: Compress image to 10 KB
- 1Scan or photograph your signature on plain white paper, then crop it closely.
- 2Add the image here. The target is already set to 10 KB.
- 3Press "Compress image to 10 KB".
- 4Check that the signature is still clear, then download and upload it.
Getting a clean signature for upload
- Use plain white paper and a dark pen. Ballpoint is fine; gel or felt-tip is better.
- Photograph in daylight, holding the phone directly above the paper to avoid shadows.
- Crop tightly so the signature fills the image. Empty paper wastes the 10 KB budget.
- Compress here, then zoom in on the result to make sure every stroke is visible.
Why so small?
Application systems often print the signature on admit cards and verification sheets at a few centimetres wide. They don’t need a big image, and keeping it tiny lets them store millions of applications cheaply.
If the portal also asks for exact pixels
Some forms specify dimensions such as 140 × 60 pixels for the signature. Resize to those dimensions first with the Resize image tool (choose “Crop to fill”), then compress to 10 KB.
Frequently asked questions
What usually needs to be under 10 KB?
Signatures and left-thumb impressions on recruitment and admission forms. Photos almost always get a larger allowance, often 20–50 KB.
My signature becomes blurry at 10 KB. How can I fix it?
Crop away all empty paper around the signature before compressing, and sign with a thick black or dark blue pen. A tight crop of bold strokes stays sharp even at 10 KB.
Will the dimensions change?
Only if needed. NapTools first lowers JPEG quality, then shrinks the image in small steps until it fits. A typical signature ends up around 300 × 120 pixels.
Is there a minimum size too?
Some forms require at least 4–5 KB. Results usually land just under 10 KB, comfortably above that.
